There’s something magical about a San Francisco family session by the beach. I recently had the joy of photographing a young family of three with the sweetest 16-month-old baby boy. As anyone familiar with San Francisco knows, fog is always a possibility. We arrived prepared for gray skies. But instead, we were greeted with a soft breeze, clear blue skies, and golden light — a perfect day on the coast.
The light-colored sand, sweeping views of the bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge created an iconic backdrop for this San Francisco family session. The parents chose a beautiful palette of creams and blues for their outfits. They complemented the setting perfectly. Their baby boy looked adorable in a cozy striped sweater. While mom wore a flowing floral dress that moved beautifully in the wind. Dad kept it timeless in a classic linen button-up.
What I loved most about this session was capturing the energy of toddlerhood — sandy toes, joyful giggles, and the constant motion of chasing after a little one. These in-between moments—the ones that pass too quickly—are always my favorites to document.
Photographed entirely on professional Kodak film, this San Francisco family session has that soft, nostalgic quality that only film can bring — natural skin tones, rich texture, and a timeless feel. As the sun set behind the bridge, we wrapped up the session with full hearts and sandy shoes.
These are the memories that will last: not just perfectly posed portraits, but the real, fleeting moments of connection.
